Hi
We are looking at purchasing a new MIS and have had a demo from VSware. I was wondering whether there are any schools in the south Dublin area already using it who I could chat with or visit. Other alternatives to VSware that are working well would also be appreciated.
Thanks a million

We're using VSware in Claregalway and I would strongly recommend it. It's an excellent system with an attractive user interface. Compared to other MIS it is very intuitive to use. The fact that it is cloud based is a big plus, as it can be accessed from anywhere (very useful when inputting exam results and reports!!). The timetabling package it uses is EdVal, which links up very well with VSware for modifying timetable. Support is also very good and the guys in there are really helpful, although we have not experienced any real issues since we began using in September. If you contact VSware they will give a demo of the system and how it is setup.

Echo what Gareth says. Examples just from today
1. We did the annual rollover of the Edval timetable package this afternoon, on simple instructions for our VSWare guru Patrick. Took less than 3 minutes. Bliss.
2. Needed correct spelling of a student name to check something - could look up VSWare records from home.
Highly recommend. (But I think I've said that before!).

We're started using it in Castlebar and the teachers found it so user friendly, roll out was seamless.

Not that I'm any huge fan of ePortal, but it is accessible from home once PDST open the firewall port.

I have been looking at different MIS for the last while. Today, I had a demo from Philip in VSware and I am extremely impressed. It seems so user friendly and very intuitive. The fact that it is cloud based and the security of it is guaranteed is a big plus as we are thinking about replacing the server our MIS runs on so that would be a definite advantage and saving. Also, VSware like eportal is fully accessible from home for staff and parents. Philip was so interested in what we would like to see included (such as payments) and took on board all our ideas to take back to the in house developers so I am very strongly considering moving over to them.

Linda.
