I'm not sure what to think of this.
I do not think Google wants to kill it, there are quite some fleets out there. 
Pre-installed would be interesting.
Ideally, Google would put more efforts in its linux part. But we'll have to wait and see.

They have set out the plans in a press release. They want to transition it to an official Chrome OS offering. 

'Over the long term CloudReady will become an official Chrome OS offering, and existing customers will be upgraded seamlessly as that happens.'

They have given plenty of funding and support to cloudready already. One can reduce the plan here is to leverage the success of the Chromebooks in education in the US and let districts who might have been nervous about large scale deployment if cloudready see it as a fully Google supported option. Bring Chrome as opposed to Chromium means updates etc will be uniform in mixed environments.

It will be interesting to see if the licencing and pricing model stays the same. At present as discussed in another thread you can use the home version free in schools. If you want managed you have to pay the neverware licence and a google device licence. Hopefully these might be rolled into one management licence but who knows?
