You could use Bommerang for Gmail, it is a free add on for Gmail but think it is restricted to 10 emails a month.

Not too sure about school data restrictions, etc., but for an excellent mail merging tool that's free for upto 250 emails a day, I use the Google Sheets add-on Yet Another Mail Merge, which allows you to custom build mass emails and schedule date / time to send:
