GAFE/GSuite and Gmail permissions in Primary School

Hi All,

In the past it was possible to determine the permission pupils had when using Gmail - for example, you could give total access or you could have pupil confined to gmail within the group or Organizational Unit.  Is this still possible or is it just ON or OFF now?

Hi AJ,

Still possible. That’s what I did. Just turned off gmail for the students organisational groups.

Thanks Marie,

As usual I didn't make myself clear.  It used to be possible to have different levels of permission access.   You might not want to give pupils email access at all but on the other hand you might want to give 5th class permission to email within a group or 6th maybe email within domain(though most are already on Instagram/WhatsApp/Facebook or whatever is current).  So I know that it can be on/off for the OU but can it be on with restricted access?

On or off.

No middle ground.

Buuuuuut- open to correction.

Been rooting around under the hood there and it appears the setting for ON but restricted is still there.  (Not as powerful as it once was, way back in the day when you could still swing a car to start it - wonder how many here will remember that far back).  It appears you can allow but restrict to a Domain - so internal email only by specifying your own domain name which is almost what I was hoping for.
