I have been using the SnagIt 5 screen capture software for several
years and find it very good. Came across this link for a free download
of SnagIt 7.25 http://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions.asp#snagit
and this link for the licence key http://www.techsmith.com/Covermount/covermount.asp?ID=8

I've been using snagit for the last few years and I have to say it
does a great job. It captures video really well too. Camtasia is also
very good. It just depends what you want it for. For simple screen
captures (both video and picture) Snagit does the job whereas if you
are recording your own tutorials where you need to zoom in or add
text etc Camtasia is much better (but more expensive).

Hi Brenda,

I've used Jing quite a bit - on an XP system too and with no trouble for
recording video with sound.

Could it be the mic you are using?
http://help.jingproject.com/tips-tricks-and-advanced/audio-faqs/

The link above is to a help file (I hope it does help) - but for Windows it
suggests you check your mic through Control Panel.

Jing has just been updated last weekend and captures can now output to
Snagit or Camtasia Studio for editing

Another alternative is CamStudio....and it's free !! http://camstudio.org/
You can produce .avi files or .swf's with or without audio commentary.

BTW, CamStudio also available as part of the excellent OpenEducationDisc http://www.theopendisc.com/education/
