Hi all, My name is Daniel. Myself and a few of my friends have been involved in build a free online community for students and teachers: StudyNotes.ie. It’s soul aim is to allow students and teachers to maximise the use of technology in secondary schools. We hope to be an online e-learning hub where students and teachers can access resources specifically focused on the Irish educational system. Students and teachers can sign up to get involved in the discussion forums. Students can organise their weekly study plan, set tasks, access resources, study and save their notes. Discussions can take place in the forum or around the content. There are revision notes, sample answers, essay, guides, video content, flashcards, quizzes, etc. Everything is free, no ads, nothing. Not trying to sell anything here. We believe that there is a lack of online community for secondary school teachers and students which is based around content. We are actively trying to get teachers involved with us to help grow this online community. We would love to hear from anyone who is interested in getting involved with what we are doing. Would love to hear any feedback, idea, suggestions, etc. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks, Daniel

Hi Daniel

Just had a look at your online community.  Excellent idea, great layout, I will pass it along to my colleagues.  I work in VTOS Adult Education, we teach Leaving Certificate and also FETAC Modules.  Would you consider adding a section for Further Education at some point in the future?

Thank you
Regards
Kathleen Keating

Hi Kathleen,

Thanks for the positive feedback. Please do share it with others. We are looking into all the possibilities of how the community can grow and be useful to students and teachers. We can add a section for Further Education if that would be beneficial and once we have content. We are seeking for teachers to be involved to produce content with us (not just text based, but video, podcasts, interactive, etc.) and growing with the community at the moment.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

Really good work, I had only started a project like yours a few weeks ago but I'm REALLY delighted to see someone else doing it, the work load would have been too much for me to handle, after week one I had remember thinking I had bitten off more then I can chew.
Keep up the good work and let me know if there's anyway I can help.

Hi Daniel,

Well done. The PDST offer a lot of digital content to teachers in the following web address.
Maybe you could contact them and see how they can help you.
Some good digital resources for teachers.
I totally agree that the time is right to flip our thinking and provide resources for students with forums. I too have been working toward that idea. It is a very time consuming and a difficult task to deliver content in a way students can be individual learners yet guided comprehensively to achieve.
I believe it should be the vision of the ETB's to provide this but failing that it will always come down to individuals.

Best Regards,

Bije Barrett

Thanks. We would love to hear more about your experience in providing content. We want to learn from others so we can do and provide ways to do it better.
