Dear colleagues,

 

We are delighted to announce the Call for Papers and Posters for the HCAI‑EP'26 Conference on Human-Centred AI in Education & Practice, taking place in-person at Maynooth University, Ireland, on January 21–22, 2026. Organised by the Ireland ACM SIGCSE Chapter and supported by the Human-Centred AI Masters (HCAIM) initiative, this interdisciplinary conference brings together researchers, educators, technologists, and practitioners working at the intersection of AI, human-centred design, and education.

 

 

Submission Tracks

We invite contributions in three formats:

 

Full Papers

Deadline:

  • Abstracts: September 5, 2025
  • Full Submission: September 12, 2025

Length: Up to 6 pages + 1 page for references (ACM double column format)
Scope: Empirical or theoretical research and practice-based work with clear research questions, methodology, and critical reflection.
Review: Double-anonymous, peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library.

 


Short Papers

Deadline:

  • Abstracts: September 5, 2025
  • Full Submission: September 12, 2025

Length: 3–4 pages (including references, ACM double column format)
Scope: Early-stage research, student-led work, or pilot projects.
Note: Titles must end with “(Student Work)”, “(Work in Progress)”, or “(Pilot Findings)”. Accepted short papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library.



Posters

Round 1 Deadline: September 12, 2025 (Notification: September 26)
Round 2 Deadline: October 31, 2025 (Notification: November 10)

Length: 1-page abstract
Scope: New ideas, preliminary results, or work-in-progress suited for visual discussion.
Format: Printed posters will be presented in person; abstracts (the submission for each deadline, single page ACM double column format) will be published in the ACM Digital Library.


 

Topics of Interest

We welcome submissions across a range of domains that apply or explore human-centred AI, including but not limited to:

  • AI pedagogy and curriculum design
  • Fairness, transparency, XAI, and responsible AI
  • Human-AI collaboration in education and industry
  • Ethics, digital policy, and regulation (EU AI Act, ALTAI)
  • AI tools for digital transformation in health, finance, climate, and more
  • Inclusive design and accessibility
  • Learning analytics and AI-driven student support

Submissions should, where appropriate, identify human-centred challenges, highlight UN Sustainable Development Goals, or align with responsible AI frameworks such as the EU AI Act and ALTAI.
