I was thinking of a USB-C adapter and plug in a DVD player with USB connection?

AS far as I can make the answer is NO with regard to standard DVDSs or CDs for that matter. Plugging in a DVD drive like this might work to play data files from a DVD disc, as you would with files on a USB stick or external hard drive.

I rip the DVDs onto google drive and they stream them from there.
