The CTwins project aims to build confidence in second level teachers to start with programming so that they might ultimately include computational thinking in their teaching.
A playful approach working in pairs, is designed to be fun and enjoyable, but will 'break the ice' with programming by developing a solution using Scratch together with a 'twin' from Northern Ireland online.
It means giving up two Saturdays: a launch in Belfast on Saturday 4th February and an exhibition in Dublin on Saturday 1st April and working for about two hours per week in your own time with support from an online community. An honorarium and certificate of completion is offered.
We are recruiting now - ideal candidates will be from any discipline, short of confidence with computing but willing to have a go. Even the wise and knowledgable members of the CESI list may not have tackled programming yet, and you may also know other colleagues who would benefit.
The project is led by the Computational Thinking for Life group in CRITE at Trinity College Dublin working with Queen's University Belfast and funded by Google's Computer Science for High School initiative.
