Bring the planet into your Code Club | World Environment Day is coming up on 5 June, and this month, we’re focusing on young people’s voices as we use code to explore environmental issues, tell stories, and imagine solutions. You don’t need to plan anything big: a short activity or conversation can help spark ideas.
To make it easy to get started, we’ve created projects and a workshop exploring environmental issues through technology. |

Project of the month: Green goals | | A simple way to get started is with ‘Green goals’, a beginner-friendly Scratch animation from our ‘Protect our planet’ project collection. It’s a great starting point to introduce coding concepts while encouraging creators to think about real-world environmental challenges.

Join our live workshop | Create a Scratch animation with Green goals in our step-by-step codealong, and pick up simple tips for running an environmental coding session linked to the United Nations five environment-focused Sustainable Development Goals.

Discover more ideas | Seeking inspiration? Discover ‘Drone planting’, an engaging Scratch game where a drone drops seeds to regenerate the bush. April, a Code Club Australia creator, shares her insights into the project, which can inspire a great environment-focused session when paired with our existing ‘Protect our planet’ project collection.

However you take part, share what your learners create — we’d love to see it. When you share their projects, you amplify their voices and inspire others.
Post a video or screenshot on Facebook and tag us, share it in our community Slack channel, or go old school and send the team an email.
Thanks, as always, for supporting young people and helping them feel heard.
Keep coding,
Zoe
