Laura, Not sure if you're looking for primary or second level - but Lure of the Labyrinth http://www.labyrinth.thinkport.org/www/ is a brilliant free online maths game for senior end of primary- 4th / 5th/ 6th.

Hi Laura

I'd agree with Mark, the numeracy games in MangaHigh.com are definitely worth a look for 2nd class up. 2 other useful sites for infants to 2nd class are http://www.abcya.com/ and http://pbskids.org/ Also, there are links to loads of games via the excellent ICTMagic site http://ictmagic.wikispaces.com/ listed under the different subject areas.

Hope this helps

Anne

Hi Laura

I find students (upper primary & JC) love to play the various Maths games on http://coolmath4kids.com/ .  More and more it is striking me that the drill and repetition work no longer in vogue in the regular classroom is very well supported in such enjoyable environments as students make repeated efforts to improve scores.  Best of luck.

Theres a certain games-based-learning resonznce to what you're Adrienne, the motivation to improve performznce over repeated attempts...
I also think the (largely) private nature of the learning experience is a factor, what Frank Moran in St Aidan's once referred to as "failing in private but winning publicly" when online maths games were repeatedly attempted.

Hi Dave,

I can't find your list of online games and I'd love to use them in class. Can you post them here or post a link ? Thank you.

I'm not sure why the attachment is not showing up in my previous post! I've attached it here again, let me know that you get it ok and if not I can PM it to you.

It was there, but one needed to scroll to the bottom of the nested postings.

Thanks, very useful.
