Is your school considering introducing coding in the new term? If so, you might be wondering exactly where to start, or what the best resources are to begin that journey.
Taking the first step into tech can feel daunting, which is why I want to share a fantastic resource with you: Code Club, a school-community-based informal program offered by the Raspberry Pi Foundation.
To help educators and volunteers alike confidently launch their coding journey, Code Club is offering a series of online workshops this August. Did we mention they are completely free? Additionally, certificates of participation are available if required.
Here are the details for three excellent upcoming global workshops designed to get you started:
From Curious to Club Leader
Date: 5 August 2026
Time: 10AM or 5PM (BST)
Overview: Have you ever thought about starting a coding club but felt held back by "tech-timidity"? Whether you're a teacher, librarian, or parent, this one-hour session covers the basics: What is Code Club? Why join? What happens at a club? No prior coding experience is required—just an interest in helping kids create with technology!

Getting started with Scratch
Date: 12 August 2026
Time: 10AM or 5PM (BST)
Overview: An exciting, hands-on introduction to Scratch programming. Perfect for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of Scratch and how to create fun, interactive projects using the Code Club paths.

Unplugged: Building coding skills without devices!
Date: 19 August 2026
Time: 10AM or 5PM (BST)
Overview: Discover the power of offline learning! This workshop teaches you how to introduce core computing concepts—like algorithms, sequencing, and loops—through fun, physical games and interactive activities. No technical experience or screens required!
