Dear all,

Please see below a request from a colleague (from University of Education Weingarten) looking for teachers to interview for her research into Maker Education. Contact her directly if interested:

Dear All,

I’m looking for interview participants that are interested and have at least a little knowledge in the field of Making in Education (don’t have to be experts). I would need people that are working as teachers in some kind because I would like to investigate factors that influence teacher decisions positively or negatively when it comes to Making in the classroom.
More closely I’d like to identify pain and gain factors of Making in the classroom (according to the Situated Expectancy Value Theory).

I’d be very thankful if as many as possible would contribute to my research.

For everyone interested, please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you have.

Invitation to Participate in a Scientific Online Survey on the
Implementation of Maker Education in Schools

Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Hannah Ganzer. I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Education
Weingarten and am conducting research on Maker Education in school settings as
part of my doctoral project. To carry out this study, I depend on your support and
would like to kindly invite you to take a few minutes to complete the online
questionnaire.

All relevant information can be found below.

What is the study about?
Maker Education offers great potential for fostering creativity, problem-solving skills,
and technical understanding among students by combining hands-on, project-based
learning with digital and analog tools, making core competencies for 21st-century life
and work tangible (https://zsl-bw.de/,Lde/16693258).
With this study, we aim to contribute to a stronger integration of Maker Education in
schools. To this end, it is particularly important to understand what barriers you
perceive to its implementation and how schools can be supported in overcoming
them.
As part of my doctoral project, I am developing a brief screening instrument that
captures motivational factors, barriers, and challenges as well as enabling conditions
and incentives, in order to provide tailored support for schools and professional
development opportunities for teachers.
To develop and validate this instrument, I am conducting two consecutive online
surveys, for which I rely on your participation.

What will you be asked?
The survey covers two areas:
• Your assessments of motivational aspects related to Maker Education
(responses on a scale from 1 to 7 – no prior knowledge required, no
restriction to specific subjects),
• A few professional background questions to describe the sample: school type,
subject(s) taught, and years of teaching experience.
No personally identifying data will be collected (no name, no address). It is not
possible to link your responses to your identity

How does the survey work?
The survey takes place entirely online via the data privacy-compliant platform
Evasys of the University of Education Weingarten. You may complete the survey at a
time of your choosing.
The estimated completion time is approximately 15–20 minutes.
Participation is entirely voluntary. As the survey is fully anonymous, it is unfortunately
not technically possible to delete your data after submission. Completing and
submitting the questionnaire constitutes consent to participation.

What happens to your data?
Your data will be:
• collected and stored in a fully anonymous manner (identification of your
person is not possible at any point),
• used exclusively for scientific purposes within the scope of the doctoral
project,
• not shared with third parties,
• stored in the research data repository RADAR at the University of Education

Weingarten and permanently deleted after a maximum of 10 years (in
accordance with the DFG guidelines for good scientific practice).

Who is this study intended for?
All teachers are invited to participate, regardless of school type, subject, or years of
experience. No prior knowledge of Maker Education is required.

How can you participate?
You can access the survey via the following link:
https://es.phwg.de/evasys/online.php?p=Pilotierung_EN

If you experience any technical issues or have questions about completing the
survey, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I greatly appreciate your support and am happy to answer any questions you may
have.

Thank you so much for your time!

Sincerely,

Hannah Ganzer
