Hi All,

Am starting to teach the above module to adult learners.
Going hunting for a textbook and some digital resources?
Any suggestions or ideas are welcome!

Hi Hetty, You may find useful : "Using Business Maths" by Robert Jordan (Gill & MacMillan) as it is written for Level 4 Functional Maths (4N2138)   as well as Business Calculations L4.

I haven' t found a text book, but I have some resources you might want to look at on this page:
Copies of my briefs are on sub-pages. please be aware that your provider may have different assessment criteria from those that these briefs were written for, the changes required are probably minor, but real. If you wish to contact me directly please feel free to do so.
All the best

Thanks everybody, for your suggestions and advice, nice to have a pool of ideas from as not every resource matches the assessment criteria.  Best wishes, Hetty

Hi Hetty, I have been teaching level 4 to adults for the past few years.  I love this link for some very practical real-life based ideas http://nrich.maths.org/frontpage

I don't use any book.  I pull all resources from online.  I used CensusAtSchool for data handling.  A nice resource with plenty of questionnaires and data to work from for their own assignment.
Sorcha.

Hi Hetty

Not sure if the following is of use:  LCA Maths 1,2,3,4 workbook style available on line only from Golden Key  (www.goldenkey.ie).  Hands up that I am one of the authors.

Thanks so much Adrienne,
My class has a mix of learners - we revised rounding numbers yesterday, and started on calculators - I keep giving them examples of how the maths apply to their work experience and career goals.
Will check Golden Key out during the week in preparation for next Fridays class.
Kind Regards, Hetty
