Hi All,

We are exploring the world of online licensed teaching programs in primary literacy and numeracy teaching (be that in-class stations or during withdrawn support lessons)

This year we have used Spelling City (with SWST spelling scheme) and Literacy Planet (mostly for comprehension but its iPad offering will be extended from September).  We intend to drop Spelling City from September and move spellings to Literacy Planet too.

I have just finished a trial of Lexia for a month and was extremely impressed with its learning engine in terms of assessment, placement and support for areas of literacy that it identifies where a pupil is struggling.  And then I saw the price, approximately €37 per pupil per year for a three year commitment...

Would anyone be aware of alternatives to Lexia, with built-in assessment and teaching support that works out more cheaply?  Could anyone share some user experience?

Khan Academy has been recommended to us as a numeracy equivalent to Lexia or Literacy Planet.  Are there other alternatives that are suitable for the Irish curriculum (as it currently stands at least)?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Paul
