I have had a few customers today that had the Google Filter search issue and thought I would share the workaround.
If you are getting the following error
Your search results have been blocked because your search settings are not in accordance with company policy. In order to continue, please update your search settings so that Safe Search is set to the strictest setting. If you are currently logged into your account, please also lock Safe Search and try your search again.

Hi all
I had this issue earlier in the year. As a google apps for ed school I got the following advice from google.
Hope this helps

Thank you for taking my call today, it was a pleasure speaking with you. I'm happy to hear that everything is now working as expected and I'm delighted that I was able to assist you with this.

As per our conversation, it is possible to enable safe search by default by configuring a Chrome Management policy on your Google Apps Admin console. This however requires that your  users sign into the Chrome Browser as per https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/185277?hl=en.

Our Google Apps team offers support for the core suite of Google Apps services defined at http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/terms/user_features.html. The issue you've experienced is currently outside the scope of our support offering and we won’t be able to offer you further direct assistance at this time. However, I can share some resources that may be helpful to you. I researched your issue and you should be able to find more information regarding SafeSearch: Turn on off at https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/510?hl=en&ref_topic=3378866.

I hope that you’ve found this information useful. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch in the future if you need any assistance with your core Google Apps
Sincerely,

Google Enterprise Support

Brendan

We had that issue at the end of the year, I got the staff together and asked them to click the link from the PDST then click save at the bottom of the page, Done. No more issues. That was the advise I got from PDST. No problems since :)

The link was put up by the PDST, what I mean by that is:

When Google blocked you the msg that came up was from the PDST not from google.

I found that "The filter explicit results" button was often already checked but clicking on "Lock safe search" then worked - it seems obvious but a lot of people didn't do it.

We're still experiencing this issue and we have to follow the link and tick the box every day. A bit of a pain to say the least as students don't have accounts to sign in and lock safe search.

Follow the link BUT don't tick any boxes, scroll down to the end of the page and click save.

Hi Niall,
I believe that HEAnet/NCTE are implementing Google safe search across all schools receiving their internet from the department. This was being rolled out to schools over the past year I think. It reached us around the first week in June as well, and I was told to get on to NCTE/HEAnet to change the settings/filtering levels- we have it so that it is activated for students but not for teachers through the profiles in Active Directory. This could be the issue.
