Hi folks,
Delighted to announce this year's Cyber-Schools CTF will take place on Friday 13th March. The event is supported by TU Dublin School of Informatics and Cybersecurity, GroSafe, UCD Centre for Cyber Resilience Education and CyberWise.
This year's competition will be held in the new Áras Geal building in TU Dublin's Blanchardstown Campus.
Registration is now open, to secondary schools, coder dojos, code clubs etc.
Entry is free with teams of up to four per team. Registration should be completed by a teacher/;leader using their official school/org email (i.e. not by the students). Capacity is capped, so please do only register if the team will definitely attend, as no shows mean other schools will miss out on the opportunity. Lunch will be provided. At least one laptop per team is recommended.
This competition is particularly useful for students taking computer science, transistion year short courses in computing, cyber, IT etc. No previous experience is required though, just a willingless to learn, solve problems and work as a team. Previous events have been hugely successful and popular, and places are likely to fill up quickly.
I'm also delighted to soft-launch a beta of a new website,
Cyber Dojo, which aims to introduce students to the world of cybersecurity challenges or
Capture-the-Flag (CTF). The site is still under development, with much more content to be added. But we thought it might be useful to students and teachers ahead of the Cyber-Schools CTF (please remember it is in beta). We'd be very interested in your constructive feedback, if you do use it. Please email me directly. if you have any. Please bear in mind that it is in beta, and the target audience for the site will already have covered the basics of computing such as basic coding, web/html/sql, some operating systems etc.
We will be adding more content in the coming weeks and months, including a private members area just for teachers, where we will add exclusive challenges, and solutions, that you can use in the classroom. This part of the site will be available soon.
This project has been supported by ZeroDays CTF and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
Cheers,
Mark
