Dream-pop legends Slowdive release their first record in 22 years today, and could never have predicted that a whole generation would find their own lo-fi path to creating similar sounds. But Hoops are proof that solid songwriting and chemistry amongst longtime friends are enough to stand above mere genre affectations, and after a few minutes, such genre labels soon fall off the bone.

On Saturday, the great post-disco queen Grace Jones, now 75-years-old, performed at the Los Angeles Outloud @ WeHo Pride festival. She uplifted the crowd with her classic "Slave to the Rhythm" while hula-hooping the entire song. Meanwhile, Jones's BFF Brigitte Nielsen was spotted in the VIP section grooving appropriately. Check it out:

Hoops are a popular earring style, but whether they work for everyday wear depends a little on the style and the rest of your outfit. As a rule of thumb, smaller hoops and hoops with stones are generally better for daily wear, while larger hoops are probably better for going out and more formal nights on the town.

My handmade hoop earrings are available in a wide range of styles, from cute heart shaped designs to larger hoops with several stones inspired by the colors and shapes found in nature.

All of my jewelry is made from hypoallergenic materials and nickel-free metals. I have a range of metals in my hoop earring collection, from Sterling Silver hoops to hoops that include copper and brass.

Twain's 1997 hit song, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" has served as the Cougars' unofficial anthem all season, and following their championship run and ascent to national fame over the past weekend, their passion for the song has taken on a life of its own, even capturing the attention of Twain herself.

During the season, the team as a whole began to embrace the song, playing it in the locker room before games and as the go-to after a big win. It got to the point where Motuga would come into the pregame locker room and say "let's go, girls!" -- the famous opening lyrics -- after which the group would sing the first verse and chorus to let off steam before tip.

So when 7-seed Washington State upset 2-seed Utah (which at the time was projected as a 1-seed for the NCAA tournament) in the Pac-12 tournament quarterfinals, Caskey said he asked the arena DJ in Las Vegas' Michelob Ultra Arena to play Twain's song, and though he initially wasn't sure whether he had the track, he came through.

Upon advancing to the finals with a 61-49 win over 3-seed Colorado, Motuga, on the Pac-12 Network broadcast, invited "Auntie Shania Twain" to come to Vegas for the championship game and perform the song with their coach in the locker room. Twain responded that she's currently in Switzerland, but that she would be watching from afar.

Playing musical chairs offers great opportunities for improving physical coordination, social skills, and emotional regulation. You can further add specific musical goals as well, such as, exposure to a variety of cultural music songs, walking with the steady beat of the music, and switching the direction of walking to show the musical form (structure) of the music.

Once the players seem to have a grasp on level 2, you can further increase the challenge by switching the body part after each round, as opposed to only once per game. This requires an increased amount of focus and intentional listening during each round. Additionally, you can switch the direction that everyone walks around the hoops (clockwise for a few rounds, then counterclockwise, etc). Lastly, switch up the number of people allowed per hoop (I suggest only once per game). Usually, anywhere from 1-4 people per hoop works well, depending on the size of the hoops and size of the people.

Here are a few music selections that will work well for our musical hula hoops game. All of these songs have an upbeat tempo, which is perfect for walking/sliding/galloping/etc during the game. (The links will take you to Youtube.)

In summary, we took the classic game of musical chairs and twisted it all around into a multi-level, multi-directional musical hula hoops game! We explored regular musical hula hoops, then added new ways to enter the hoop, as well as, new ways to travel around the hoops, and lastly added a sound cue.

We also shared a few songs that would work well for musical hula hoops (or musical chairs, if you want to be plain and boring). The icing on the cake here would be to combine all the levels into one!

While Furtado's 'Loose' was a big departure from her debut, 'Whoa, Nelly!' and sophomore effort 'Folklore,' the Canadian songstress' sound didn't suffer for it. Albiet different, she sounded great.

In 'Big Hoops,' Furtado wants to depart from 'Loose' as well, but she doesn't have anything to say beyond getting dressed and having a guy ignore her. Oh, and she talks about her rump, too. We could forgive her if the beat, vocals or instrumentation were unique or sonically pleasing enough to reconcile the lack of a message (not every track needs to be 'Forca' or 'I'm Like a Bird'), but the song is more irritating than catchy, and the beat isn't strong enough to make many people dance.

"That boy gonna feel my poison." Furtado may not need any arsenic or cyanide after all. If he listens to this song on loop enough times, he'll probably try to off himself, saving her the trouble. Hopefully in her next single, Furtado can do better. We recommend big hooks over 'Big Hoops.'

We spoke with the Harlem spitter about his uber-catchy song titled after the ex-U. of Texas hooper ... and he explains Bamba asked him for a shout-out in one of his tracks ... and Sheck did him one better!!

"Hoop Dee Doo" is a song from 1950 written by Milton Delugg and Frank Loesser, and made popular by Perry Como. The Wiggles covered this song in the video and album partially named after this song. It was also a staple for many of their live shows from 2001 until 2010.

Hula hoops, music, and kids! It's a great combination for fun and learning about music. The "Jump the Hoop" music lesson plan helps develop steady beat and an understanding of the macrobeat as student teams jump in and out of the hula hoops around your music classroom. This lesson is a winner with every age group!

Step 2
The first thing that we need to do is learn, "Did You Ever See a Lassie?" Teach the song phrase by phrase. Ask students to pat their knees on beat one of each measure to gain a feel for the macro beat.

Since Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is a country-western Disney musical, most of the following songs have an old-fashioned country feel to them as well. In addition, there are lots of high-energy and silly vibes below in order to match the style of the show.

Well, for basketball junkies who have mostly been dormant for so many years, the next couple of nights ought to provide a perfect outlet for all of our shared frustrations. Starting tonight at Madison Square Garden, we will be treated to three straight nighs of what promises to be a wildly entertaining hoops tripleheader:
