GTA 5 cheats and the corresponding GTA 5 cheat codes are a staple of any GTA plathrough at this point, being the easiest way to get straight to the fun - which most of the time means straight to the invincibility, weapons, ammo and of course helicopters.

Do note that for money, however, it's confirmed that there's absolutely no specific GTA 5 money cheat - but there are some alternatives. GTA 5 added some interesting ways to input cheats on top of the good old controller button-mashing codes. On consoles, you can input those controller codes or, alternatively, whip out the in-game cell phone to dial in a number that activates the cheat instead.
On PC, you can do either of those things and also use console commands - the commands are actually the words spelled out by the phone numbers, which is a nice touch (giving you things like 1-999-LAWYERUP)!
There is a decent range of cheats available for GTA 5 players, but it's worth noting that some classics are missing - there's no way to spawn yourself a tank for instance, plus no actual, official money cheat - despite what a lot of people will tell you!
Otherwise, there are a couple of final things to bear in mind: first, you won't be able to unlock achievements or trophies, or get anything other than a Bronze rating on missions, in a session where cheats have been activated. Second, all of these cheats are purely offline only - cheats are disabled in GTA Online, due to the pretty obvious disrupted effect they'd otherwise have!
Xbox Series X/S, Xbox 360 and Xbox One GTA cheats work in the same way as they do on PlayStation platforms: you can enter them at any point in offline mode by using the controller inputs listed below, or by dialling the cell phone numbers listed next to them.
The only thing to note is that the buttons don't always line up exactly with their counterparts on PlayStation - so just because you have, say, the Invincibility cheat burned into your muscle memory on one platform, that doesn't mean it's the exact same buttons on the other. Double check the list below when in doubt!
You can also use the cell phone numbers - listed in the tables below alongside the cheat codes - to enter the same cheats if you prefer. To do so, simply bring up your phone and dial the number listed next to the cheat you're after.
As we mentioned above, cheats on PCs work a little differently to their counterparts on consoles. You can still use a controller to input them - we've used Xbox button names below, as that's the most popular choice of PC gamepad - but otherwise the main ways of inputting them are via the in-game cell phone (again, bring it up in-game and dial the below numbers to use the cheats), or alternatively you can use console commands.

Cheat codes can make your GTA playthrough a cakewalk, or the hardest challenge you've ever faced. Do you struggle with weaving between cars while speeding through Los Santos? Now try it when gravity disappears, and your character is permanently drunk.
First, you can activate cheats in every version of the game using your in-game cellphone. Open the cell phone by pressing Up on your controller's D-pad, or the Up Arrow key on your keyboard. Then select Contacts and open the dialpad. You'll type in all the cheat codes here.
There are over two dozen unique cheat codes in Grand Theft Auto 5, and they can do anything from giving you new items to changing the laws of physics. They'll last until you die, or until their time limit runs out.
All three of GTA 5's main characters have a special ability. Franklin's Driving Focus slows down time when driving, Michael's Area Kill slows down time when shooting, and Trevor's Red Mist decreases the damage you take and boosts the damage you deal.
If you're having trouble lining up sniper shots, use the Bullet Time cheat to slow down time when you're aiming. There are three levels of slowdown that you can cycle through by repeatedly activating the cheat.
The Bullet Time cheat only works when you're aiming a gun. But if you want the world to slow down forever, you can use this cheat. And just like Bullet Time, there are three levels of slow-mo that you can cycle through.
There are cheats to unlock flaming bullets, explosive bullets, and explosive punches. As you might expect, these are great for causing havoc across Los Santos. Explosive bullets in particular can take down nearly any vehicle in one or two shots.
If you're planning on using the Skyfall cheat, you'll either need invincibility or a parachute to survive. Use the cheat we listed above if you want invincibility, but if you just want a parachute, use this.
This cheat will cycle through the weather patterns, going from clear, to cloudy, to smoggy, to overcast, to rainy, to a thunderstorm, to a light drizzle, to snowy, to extra sunny. Every time you activate the cheat, it'll switch to the next weather state in the list.
Probably the most useless cheat in the game, the "Black Cellphone" code will spark an explosion in the air somewhere nearby. You can't choose where the explosion occurs, and it's not that big, so there's not much you can do with this.
Although director mode is available in every version of GTA 5, only the PC version has cheat codes for it. If you're playing on a PlayStation or Xbox, enter it by calling the "Acting Up" contact in your cell phone instead.

There are two kinds of cheat codes: cell phone and button cheats. Before you can go entering cheats though, you'll need to decide which cheat code type you want to enter. Here's some information you may want to know about the two different types:
While playing GTA5, I came across a cheat called skyfall on the XBox360. After playing around with it and having a laugh, I managed to accidentally survive the cheat. When using the skyfall cheat, you will spawn in the air WITHOUT a parachute and you will fall and inevitably die when you hit the ground.
There is a way to survive this cheat and it is not that difficult either! When you spawn in the air, simply manoeuvre yourself till you are about to collide into the wall and just before you crashland, ram into it. Somehow, this will cause you to only take the impact damage of ramming into the wall and not the full fall damage.
GTA 5 cheats and codes give you complete control of the game, letting you spawn weapons, guns and cars, add extra health and control things like your wanted level and more. As well as giving you an advantage you can straight mess with reality by granting yourself powers like invincibility, superpowers, and all sorts of chaos inducing options.
Using GTA 5 cheat codes on Xbox and Playstation couldn't be simpler, you just need to input them with the D-pad and face buttons, or use the in-game phone. On PC you can do that as well, or or use console commands for the same effect.
Just be away that when using codes they disable trophies and achievements. You can counter that in GTA 5 by re-entering any codes you've used to cancel them but it is a good idea to use a separate cheat specific save to be safe, just in case they break anything/. The be extra safe, restart the game when you're done using codes just to be sure you've cleared everything out.

Here's a list of quick GTA 5 cheats for basic codes to keep health, armor, ammo and weapons topped up, as well as controlling your wanted level. There's also the parachute code because that's always useful. Whatever you're playing on, pull up your phone and enter the numbers listed to get the effect.
This GTA 5 code will refill your special ability meter for whichever GTA 5 character you're controlling. For Franklin that's a Driving Focus slow mo ability in cars. Michael's Bullet Time ability does the same in combat, while Trevor's Red Mist mode decreases damage taken and boosts damage given.
