The 88E interface is streamlined and modern, featuring super stacking options, tone shaping controls, and a microtuning engine. Compatible with both the Free Kontakt Player and the full version of Kontakt, this free piano Kontakt library offers accessibility to anyone looking for an interesting piano sound without a price tag.

And there you have it, five of the best Kontakt piano free libraries available. Each one brings its own flavor to the table, from the intimate and expressive to the bold and experimental. Diving into these free piano Kontakt instruments can not only elevate your music but also expand your creative horizons without costing anything.

The 1928 Scoring Piano contains over 11,000 samples and two different microphone perspectives, including a Close Microphone and Player Microphone, which was a mix of 8 Neumann Microphones run through a NEVE console. The close position consists of microphones close to the soundboard of the piano, highly intimate and with a clear sensation of the resonance.

The 1928 Scoring Piano contains a variety of custom piano morph options, so you can blend the piano with a selection of instruments and create completely new instruments with a single click. The instruments you can blend include Guitars, Caisa, Marimba, Rhodes, Crotales, Bowed Percussion, Glass Marima, and Glockenspiel.

The 1928 Scoring Piano is the first ever to have round-robin based sustains and round-robin based staccatos in combination. The round-robin sustains allow you to get a hyper-natural variation in the sound, even when playing slow and with the pedal down. The staccatos were recorded separately, since the attack of a short note on a piano differs from a sustain.

Crisp, hyper-detailed, and intimate - the musical range of our acoustic piano instruments is a perfect fit for producers, performers, songwriters, or film composers looking for expressive sounds of the eternally emotive piano, from classic to deeply evocative. Meticulously recorded with specially selected gear that honors the authenticity of vintage pianos, grand pianos, and custom artist-made keys, these acoustic keys are rich with flavor, precision, and versatility.

Una Corda is a gentle character with big emotions. Sampled from a handcrafted upright piano designed with one string per key, its one-of-a-kind textures are dreamy and complex. Originally built by David Klavins in collaboration with Nils Frahm, the unique tonality of this instrument was captured with extreme realism. Dial up the noise from pedals, fabric preparations, mechanical elements, or the room to make your creations a lived experience. Whether you need to make a gripping soundtrack or atmospheric electronica, the versatile sound of Una Corda will lend your production process undiscovered depth.

The essential sounds of our Definitive Piano Collection are rich, pristine, and dynamic. A bundle that covers three magnificent pianos, their combined tonal range is extensive and hugely versatile - an instant match for classical, contemporary, and everything in between.

The grand piano library of The Grandeur is a breathtaking world of vibrant, balanced expression. Sampled from a world-renowned grand piano, its crisp tones fit any mood, from serene to solemn. A great choice for pop, classical, soundtracks, or Latin music - this is the classic piano VST that keeps on giving.

I wanted to play some phrases that just rang out like you would on a piano via the peddle. i was a little confused over now to activate this using a midi switch. Now knowing that cc64 is the sustain control, i can program an on/off button for this.

Death Piano is a alternative take on Piano Sample Libraries that celebrates the obscure. Full of reverse samples, lo-fi gritty goodness, synthesis shaped tones, morphed massacred sounds and more. Designed for the full retail version of Kontakt 5 (not Kontakt Player), Death Piano is an inspiring collection of piano oddities that is sure to inspire film composers, pianists, songwriters, producers and more.

The library comes with 18 reverb IR, all chosen specifically to offer the most beautiful and lush sounds. This piano sounds beautiful, rich and intimate, while retaining its clarity and character, even at low velocities, making it perfect for film/TV/underscore/drama and so much more.

A lovely piano with beautiful soft dynamics which is a joy to play and particularly good for quieter emotional passages. The best part? VSTBuzz are offering it for free + it works with the free Kontakt 7 Player.

Estoy realmente impresionado con la calidad del plugin y la diferencia notable que ha hecho en mi composicon musical. Su generosidad no solo ha enriquecido mi experiencia musical, sino que tambin ha ampliado mis horizontes creativos.

I read some of the reviews on Facebook complaining that the piano was bass heavy. I think it is just musicians who use instruments out of the box without adjustments. That is what EQ is for and adding a high pass filter fixes that issue right away. Very decent piano especially for the price. And yes, you need to use Kontakt Player 7 as documented.

12 Velocity Layers is very fine. It can be used in many styles. The sound is very nice and realistic.

The settings are intuitive.

Overall as a free tool it is definitely worth having in my library.

A Neumann SM-69 tube microphone was placed about 40 cm over the hammers about where middle C is. This gives a natural stereo image, still enough closeness to not lose contact with the instrument, even when played softly.

The samples have all been recorded in crystal clear quality, with a subtle sense of stereo width and a fairly close, dry recorded perspective that, nonetheless, amply captures the unique character of each instrument.

We carved pianos through a variety of analog mediums, including cassettes, tape loops, and serially connected tape echo machines. Within the KONTAKT UI you may mix these together with vinyl textures, scratches, dust, wows, flutter and other artefacts.

For several years I've been thinking that these old hands were in decline and that such was the cause of my limitations. But apparently not. I'm able to do all manner of things on the Garritan properly and easily.

It's amazing how much difference VI choice can make. My go-to is the VSL CFX, but there's a run I've spent ages practicing that I just can't pull off using it. I switched to the VI Labs Modern U, and the difference in attack has really helped. With all the other VIs I tried, I just couldn't seem to hit the notes distinctly and cleanly enough. At least with Modern U I've got a fighting chance!

Hi. I am also very interested in your particular experience. I have been fooling around with Kontakt scripting, particularly with the release samples which are difficult to get right with the Kontakt engine. I would really appreciate if you could share a midi file of that section played by you. I have both ModernU and VSL CFX. I could tey to check where the problems lies, and that would be a real world example that very helpful for my scripting efforts.

Example settings of Philip Johnston (I think he ussed Yamaha internal sounds for live playing and these are for rendering the audio in production but not 100% sure. Regardless, he has been using VSL recently)

I'm wondering what it is that makes Garritan CFX different than Kontakt based libraries. I can already identify that Kontakt pedaling isn't great, and the way the engine handles releases and decays isn't great. But everything else should be pretty much identical, unless there is a specific feature that a particular platform allows that another doesn't. Garritan is based on the Aria extensions added to SFZ. From the platform performance perspective, I can't see why one would be better than another. It's just the recording and programming quality, and not the platform.

For me, the bottom line between SFZ and Kontakt is that Kontakt is much easier to program, with it's pedal faults, and I'm too lazy to do the same in SFZ as it would require too much typing/experiment/typing/experiment. It's not that it can't do what i want it to, it's just not fun to program.
