openid use cases for consumer facing app

hello, are there use cases for using the openid for a consumer facing app that are listed somewhere or are common practice? 

For example, would the openid be useful to authenticate the user if they attempt to add another Cerner Provider in our system, thus not having to go through portal login auth?

Hello,

You can either use openid (id_token) or Patient's ID returned in the token response to validate/get more information about the patient logging in.

Can you elaborate more on  your second question? General consensus is allowing the patient to login or using offline_access to re-auth without having the use login again unless user revokes the access.
