I found a thread asking about ER Wait Times in February, 2018.  At the time, Cerner had no means of accessing that data.   If the 4+ years since, has Cerner provided that capability, or has anyone discovered a way to do this?

I know there are Cerner customers that have figured out how to provide ER wait times on their respective web sites.    Trying to figure out how we can do it here.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided,
Rick

Hello Rick,

Its been awhile, Carl Osborne here.  I had two former clients who published their ED wait times to billboards and to their website, this thread is for FHIR API developers, I am not sure if Huntsville is looking to publish this onto a native app, if so, then i don't think there is a FHIR API that will accomplish this, however there is an option to publish on a mobile app without FHIR APIs:

OPTION 1:
This client published the wait times publicly on websites, billboards, and mobile apps but they also provided a dashboard that put their providers in the ED with several different metrics to allow them to assess what is going on and react to real-time data. They presented this at the GLRUG. You can find the ED Wait Times Dashboard presentation here... https://connect.ucern.com/docs/DOC-272335 Near the end of it they show what metrics we are pulling and also the technical layout of the servers for both internal and external use.

I was able to assist them based on information that I obtained from Ucern post regarding Posting ER Wait times online which can be found here. https://connect.ucern.com/thread/186852

OPTION 2:
Have you had a chance to view the Publish ED Metrics advancement? This functionality gives you the ability to pull the ED metrics from your database using the event times in FirstNet on a recurring basis through an ops job. Then you are able to work with a vendor to publish the data from Millennium to a website, billboard, etc.

The Design Guide gives some information regarding what events to use to gather the wait time information - https://wiki.cerner.com/display/public/reference/Design+Publish+ED+Metrics

The Configure Guide walks through the technical steps of how to set up the file and ops job to produce the metric data.- https://wiki.cerner.com/display/public/reference/Configure+Publish+ED+Metrics

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you want to connect with them.  Good to see your email, tell Carol I said hello.

Thanks,

Carl.
