Hi Fennel,

Based on the Cerner documentation,
Access Points

Currently, end users can open SMART apps in the following ways:

  • Providers can access SMART apps from the Cerner Millennium PowerChart TOC (table of contents, a column of options that open different PowerChart components) and the Organizer view
  • Providers can access SMART apps from an MPages component that is embedded in PowerChart
  • Consumers can access SMART apps from HealtheLife to view their patient information
  • Providers/Consumers can access SMART apps from a stand-alone provider/patient facing SMART app

Does any additional steps needed on SMARTAPP to support opening SMARTAPP from all these access points? Lets say if one clinic prefers Power chart TOC and other Clinic prefers Power chart embedded. Do we need separate deployment to support this use case?

Thanks,
Sri

Sri,

Because your SMART App will need to support/handle requests to your Launch URL and your Redirect URL, your application does not even "care" where it is embedded.  (However, for MPage embed you do have to include a JS snippet that might not be necessary with other types of embed locations within PowerChart/CPM/etc)

You don't need to have a separate deployment, or even a separate domain/URL to listen for inbound requests on.  Your SMART App (single deployment/instance) can be utilized for all of those embed scenarios if you desire, you can even have your application "react" differently to the manner in which it has been launched (where it is embedded).
