I'm trying to understand Cerner's Millennium API cost structure, as we consider building an interface using your FHIR-based API.

  1. At the bottom of this page about Cerner Validated Applications, it states $15K (standard tier services) or $25K (advanced) annually, plus $3K annually per client production domain connection.
  2. On this page regarding Millennium Certified APIs, it states a $10K one-time setup fee, plus an annual fee depending on the size of the patient population, beginning at $15K/year.
Here are my questions:
  1. Are the charges in both #1 and #2 above required for a vendor building an interface using the API?  Are either of those charges required?
  2. Is a Cerner Validate Application the same as an application using Millennium Certified APIs?
Thanks, Tim

Hello Tim,
  1. The charges referenced in #1 are related to the code Developer Program.  This is an optional program for 3rd party developers pursuing the commercialization of their SMART on FHIR apps.  Fees in this program cover several value-added services provided through the program. The fees in #2 are related to the purchase, configuration, and support of FHIR APIs in a health system domain.  This fee is a requirement for having the FHRI APIs available in the health system domain and it's paid for by the health system.  Nearly all of our clients already have this in place.
  2. Both Cerner Validated and Non-Validated Applications consume the Millennium Certified APIs.  The difference is that a Certified Application has completed our code Program validation process, whereas the other is an app that didn't enter into our program and was deployed directly with the health system.

Hopefully, this adds clarity!

Josh,

A belated "thank you" - that was very helpful!

Good afternoon,

I am seeking clarification and support to provide to my leadership team regarding marketplace integration, specifically an HIT  who provides third party EHR services. I have been reviewing the portal since the merger and it seems that we need to join the Code Program first to receive pricing and next steps. Is that correct?  Are we required to use FHIR or is there an option to use our existing API in combination for FHIR if needed.

Our POC is no longer with the organization hence my email. Any assistance that you can provide would be greatly appreciated
