Find an Encounter associated to an Appointment

My application engages patients based on their upcoming appointments. We can easily find these appointments with the Appointment resource, but also need to understand the encounter associated to the appointment so we can pull in pertinent information such as insurance coverage for that visit.

Am I able to do an encounter search by Appt ID? What would be the best way for me to find the encounter that is associated with a patient appointment?
