Hi,

We are at Georgia Tech in the process of developing an app using FHIR/Smart on FHIR. What is the process of registrating the app to your testing Cerner EHR environment and testing/demonstration of the app?

We want to understand the process as early as possible so that we can be better prepared while we are developing our app. We also have some deadline for the demo, so that we want to know the process early as possible.

Thanks,
Myung

Hi Myung!

At this time, we don't have the ability for 3rd party SMART developers to self-register their applications and launch them from Cerner applications for testing purposes.

If you aren't already, I would encourage you to test your SMART app against the SMART Health IT sandbox (http://docs.smarthealthit.org/sandbox/). We (Cerner) are adhering to the SMART spec so if your app can be launched from the SMART Health IT sandbox, we'll be able to launch it from our Cerner apps.

We're still in the middle of building our both our FHIR and SMART support within Cerner and will have them in production later this year. We recognize that developers want to test their apps against our FHIR and SMART implementations and we're working on providing that capability in a self-service manner. When we're ready to share more on this we'll announce it in this group as well as on http://fhir.cerner.com.

Thanks again for your interest!

Regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin

Although i posted my question on another forum also i.e (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/cerner-fhir-developers/Lob7orIZGfU)  but posting it here too. Reply at any one of these threads will be fine :)

I have reviewed this post of yours but left with few questions could you please answer same so that I can get better understanding.

We have developed one native app which is for healthcare domain and deals with doctors and Patients , if i have to connect with cerner then we can use Fhir API - http://fhir.cerner.com/dstu2/ or there is some existing app which already support interfaces + FHIR Api implementation and we should just integrate that app and launch app from our native app. Please confirm

Regards
Sonia

Hi Kevin - I am also working on a similar project. My question is If I register my app with the upcoming CERNER SMART or SMART on FIRE for that matter, would there be a way to restrict who has access to my application? Or getting access to the SMART interface would give automatic access to all apps in it?

Thanks,

Kaz

Hi Kaz,

Any SMART apps that run within Cerner's EHR will have several layers of authorization. Ultimately, each client (eg, hospital, health system, etc) decides what SMART apps to run and who (either role or specific user) can access the app.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,
Kevin
