I am new to the group so i apologize if this topic has been previously discussed

My organization would like to use a system account to access our Cerner FHIR instance .

Specifically, we would like our integration engine to make a very simple  resource query.

a system account would seem to be tailored made for such a context

at several points in the Cerner documentation, the following caveat is often seen  "Support for system account access is limited"

Is there anyone who can provide a more definitive statement as to the exact nature of Cerner's support for system account access ??

is the use case listed above possible, given that we would like to make the query in a context  that is neither patient nor provider based??

i'm fairly certain you can see all of the resources available to a system account are on the registration portal. Here: https://code.cerner.com/developer/smart-on-fhir/register

I'm going to be heading in that direction shortly so I'll get to find out for myself too.

Hi,

The limitation comment in the documentation is commenting on the usage in production/limited use cases in production. We do have some apps that have used system accounts, but the access was for specific, limited use cases and had to put in place processes/logic to address the regulatory/security/etc gaps that are a concern for those types of workflows (if applicable).

Keep in mind, even when you join right before posting a question, you can search on this group to see some of the other discussions around this. For example: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/cerner-fhir-developers/pE14A-s4mPo/zLOKfuTjEgAJ and https://groups.google.com/d/msg/cerner-fhir-developers/JbQFY8dfHo0/kDIWnwhpAAAJ (these have a little bit more detail about security concerns)

Thanks,
Jenni
