Add Medication Order - R4

Hi,

We have a requirement for adding medication orders. We are currently targeting using R4 version instead of DSTU2 since that is a normative version.

Based on my requirement, please can you answer the below questions,

1. For R4, currently, there is only MedicationRequest and that too only with Read scope.So will there be a Write scope for that resource in the future? If yes, then do you have any timelines?

2. Would it be correct to use MedicationRequest for my requirement using R4?

3. In DSTU2, there are a few Medication related resources such as MedicationOrder, MedicationStatement, etc. Have those been combined to form MedicationRequest resource in R4? Based on the documentation, I thought that is the case.

Hi Sid,

We do not comment on future timelines in this group so I unfortunately cannot comment in regards to any write functionality. In regards to DSTU2 to R4, MedicationRequest is the resource you should be looking to use in regards to Medication Orders. 

For R4, MedicationStatement is still a resource and should be used for reporting the usage of a Medication by a patient. We do not support this resource at this time in R4.
