Hi Team,

Is it possible to create a patient with SSN? If so, what would be the type field look like in identifier array?

  "identifier": [
    {
      "assigner": {
        "reference": "Organization/619848"
      }
    },
    {
    "type": {
        "coding": [
          {
            "code": ???,
            "system":???
          }
        ]
      },
      "system": "http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/us-ssn",
      "value": "xxx-xx-xxxx"
    }
  ]

Thanks,
Rui

Hi Rui,

Please take a look at this[1] thread that recently asked a similar question.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the quick response. I've tried to use the following when create patient but it returns error of: The value for Patient.identifier[1].use is not supported.
{

"use": "usual",

"type": {

"coding": [

{

"system": "http://hl7.org/fhir/v2/0203",

"code": "SS"

}

]

},

"system": "http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/us-ssn",

"value": "123456789",

"period": {

"start": "2019-04-29T21:01:51.000Z"

}
}

And if i remove the use property from the above json, it will return bad request. And idea anything I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,
Rui

Apologies,

Per our documentation you cannot provide the "use" or "assigner" fields for subsequent identifiers.

I tried to remove it, but it will return bad request.
{
    "resourceType""OperationOutcome",
    "issue": [
        {
            "severity""error",
            "code""invalid",
            "details": {
                "text""Invalid request"
            }
        }
    ]
}

Per our group guidelines, could you please post the X-Request-Id associated with your request? This is located in the headers of the response.

Thanks,
Ben (Cerner)

Hello Rui,

In order to use a SS number you will need to use the system: 'http://terminology.hl7.org/CodeSystem/v2-0203' with the code: 'SS'

Example:
{

"type": {

"coding": [

{

"system": "http://terminology.hl7.org/CodeSystem/v2-0203",

"code": "SS"

}

]

},

"system": "http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/us-ssn",

"value": "123456789",

"period": {

"start": "2019-04-29T21:01:51.000Z"

}
}

Thanks,

Sydne (Cerner)
