How does cerner handle external devices.

Some of the information that I will be needing to retrieve will be what drugs were dispensed to a patient, including where the drug was dispensed from.

The customer that I am thinking about has a number of omnicell machines and I was hoping someone could explain how the omnicell (or pixis, etc) machines talk to the cerner system.

Does the machine send messages to the cerner system when a drug is removed/put into it?

Hi,

This group is targeted for Cerner's implementation of FHIR. We don't currently expose the dispensing machine out of the FHIR APIs (if we did, we would likely only expose it on the MedicationDispense resource, which isn't implemented yet). As far as how it talks to Millennium - that is outside of the knowledge of this group, but it doesn't use FHIR :)
