Hi

I seem to be having trouble with the working of DE's (both Gnome and
KDE): the components of the environment, and especially the panels,
fail to initialize correctly. Studying ~/.xsession-errors provides no
hints. As per `ps x', the panel process seems to be hanging
indefinitely in `D' state, and cannot be killed or restarted without a
reboot. Deleting the user's old .gnome, .kde etc. doesn't help. In
case it matters, user home dirs are provided by an nfs server
(Solaris). Had no such trouble with previous SLC versions (same
fileserver and LAN configuration). Any suggestions?

.. seems to be solved, by enabling the nfslock service ( chkconfig --
add nfslock ; /etc/init.d/nfslock start )
