Chicago's Metropolitan 'L'
by Bruce Moffat
Bruce will provide an overview of the life and times of the rapid
transit service begun under the banner of Chicago's famous
Metropolitan West Side Elevated Railroad. From the beginning of
operations in 1895 and continuing to the present day, the "Met" had a
profound impact on the development of Chicago's West and Northwest
Sides. Surviving portions are part of today’s CTA Blue Line. Bruce
will trace the evolution of this interesting railroad system that’s
about to mark its 117th anniversary.
