Hi, everyone. Welcome to the CERA group. This marks the first message
and first notice of a CERA meeting sent by e-mail! <cue celebratory
noisemaker>

I'm adding this to the meeting announcement workflow in May, so next
month's will come on the day we send the mailing notice to the
printer, which means you'll hear about it first!

See you in the South Loop, tomorrow!

Respectfully,

Tony Coppoletta

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meeting Notice ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
April at CERA (TOMORROW):
“The Rockford & Interurban/Elgin & Belvidere”
by Bill Shapotkin
Bill will take you on a trip along this long interurban system which
operated between Elgin and Freeport, IL (via Rockford) and betw
Rockford and Janesville, WI. We will also take a brief look at
streetcars in Beloit, Belvidere, Freeport and Janesville. Aside from
seeing operations of these two long-gone interurbans (both quit
operating in 1930), there are plenty of remains to be seen today -
nearly eighty years later!
TIME: 1900 hrs (7:00 p.m.); doors open at 1800 hrs
DATE: Tomorrow, Friday, April 23, 2010
LOCATION: University Center, 525 S. State St., Chicago, IL (between
Congress and Harrison)
Conference Center, Lake Room
The conference center is located on the second floor. After entering
lobby, go through glass doors on your left for stair and elevator
access.
Electric Rail Highlights will follow the program.
If you have electric railway images or announcements, we encourage you
to contribute!
Please send digital images to Tony Coppoletta at to...@coppoletta.net,
in advance. If you have slides to show, please let us know in of the
meeting date.
Next month: May at CERA
Ken Spengler and Ed Halstead have prepared a show on “Trolleys in the
Land of Oz” covering electric rail (and more) across Australia!
