FROM: Pavana
Ever since I began teaching elementary students, I have been passionate about the development of a student-centered personalized learning initiative; every child is different and thus learns differently. Hello my name is Pavana and I am a professional Montessori teacher with over 14 years of experience. How can I be helpful to your child? Well, that’s a very good question. I have a very unique way to approach children with individual lesson plans which will definitely meet your child’s need. Since I am a Montessori teacher, I have the ability to combine Montessori with traditional Canadian methods which will help every child to excel in English. My way of teaching is mostly based on hands-on materials and visualizing the given topics. I teach from grade 1 to grade 12 English covering all the content. I hold a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Comm.) and am also a graduate from the prestigious Toronto Montessori Institute (Bayview-Richmond Hill Campus) for diploma programs in both lower and upper elementary education. In addition, I have also earned a diploma from the Pan American Montessori Society in lower elementary education. Later in my career, my passion for working with children-at-risk inspired me to receive a Training Certificate in Montessori Applied to Children at Risk (MACAR) from the Toronto Montessori Institute. My teaching experiences have allowed me to work with students from a variety of backgrounds. Teaching at various Montessori schools in Oshawa and Whitby, I worked with groups of students who were very diverse both culturally and linguistically. Throughout the school year I worked intensively to improve students’ English communication skills along with computer-based instruction. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and was constantly reflecting on my work with these students. I am specialized in collecting data from students, reviewing the progress and finding ways to improve their academics. By the end of the school year all my students had enhanced their receptive and expressive language skills. My teaching practices stress an overarching theme of putting part of the teaching component into the hands of the students, allowing them to become experts. English is my passion. I hope that I can help transfer some of my passion onto the next generation of bright, young minds to help your child excel.
