Hey yall. So now that legions of BD'ers have united under this
glorious banner, I will address the people. I'm a college student home
for most of the summer with lots of time on my hands. When I got home
my dad told me he was searching for an 80's Mercedes Benz diesel to
buy and run with vegetable oil or biodiesel. So I started researching
biodiesel and that landed me on that forum. Right now, we still don't
have a diesel car, and it was only yesterday that I made 1 L of
something that might be biodiesel... My current goal is to talk in
person with someone who has something similar to the Appleseed
processor and see what is involved in producing my own fuel for weekly
consumption.

I really don't know what would be involved in a co-op, but I figured
this mailing list would be more effective to someone in 2007 replying
to someone's 2005 forum post and nothing coming of it. But while I've
got the mic I'll ask some questions that might need to be asked:

Would it be better for a co-op to purchase B100 in large quantities
from somewhere nearby and move that fuel to a more central location so
that others could get it? I don't know the current commercial price of
B100 but it seems the only advantage to this method is keeping us from
having to drive pretty far east for B100.

Or are there enough interested people and is it feasible to build our
own processor system and work together to produce B100 at the central
location where we store our processor?

Another thing to do is to hold a workshop on BD production where we
assemble a few personal processors for individuals to take home. I
know there are some people from the forum who produce their own, but a
lot of them didn't list their email address. We wouldn't actually be
sharing fuel, and it might not help those who don't have the desire to
produce their own, but it would be a co-op of knowledge.

Anyways, I'm just trying to kick around some ideas and get people
thinking.

Seems like I'm kinda the loner down here in Portsmouth, with few
people interested it seems in making BD...Have made a couple local
contacts, but that's all. I have a small processor and have made a
coupe batches, but still kinda tinkering with the sytem to fine tune
the process. I need to get more methanol so I can continue
brewing...My processor is based on the appleseed version, using a hot
water heater....I just sold my mercedes but have recently bought an 88
F250 diesel...
