I am in the same boat. I have been working with a guy in NC and he is
showing me some of his system. It appears to be pretty easy. I want to build
a system. I can't have one here at my house but I can put one at my
brother's place, in Goochland Co. I live near Short Pump Mall.

thanks for the reply. I have a few parts but have not done much. Where do you get your used oil from ? I talked to a few place last year and got the stupid look. No oil.

I guess the only thing to do is jump in feet first. I burn about 100 gals of fuel a week . Its time for me to something for sure.

All,

I used all of those websites to build an appleseed processor. I bought the kit from b100 but you can buy all the parts on your own if you want.

For oil, we get about 10 gallons (two 5 gallon containers) per week from a local Chinese restaurant. We also bought 2 drums worth of oil from Dan on this list.

Kent,

Yes, the thing to do is jump in feet first. I got my hot water heater outside of VAMAC in Richmond lying next to a dumpster (they let me take it). However it is good to read a lot online, but there comes a point when you just need to make a batch. You can make a batch in a soda bottle or build a processor and make a batch. You definitely learn a lot more with each batch you make.

It is definitely nice when you start making your own fuel for about $0.90/gal.

Feel free to ask any more questions. Also, pay attention to who the recipient of the email is. If you just hit reply to a mailing list email, it will go to the list, not the person who sent the email.
