Temporary & Part-Time Contract Position
School Garden Clean-up Assistant
Description: PEAS is looking for a school garden clean-up assistant to help prepare school garden beds for upcoming usage. This person will work closely with one of our full time staff for approximately 80-120 hours over a 6-8 week period starting in mid-October and running through early December 2020.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Weed-whacking/mowing garden areas.
Weeding garden beds
Minor repairs to garden beds
Adding compost to garden beds
Planting vegetables
Other related tasks as projects require
Required Responsibilities/Qualifications:
Must be able to commit to all dates 2-4 days/week from October 20th (or upon approval of background check)-December 11th. (1 week off for fall break Nov 23-27) Project may be complete prior to December 11th, but all dates need to be reserved in case inclement weather causes any delays.
Must pass a federal background check prior to the start date - Cost will be reimbursed in the first paycheck
Must wear a mask at all times while working and follow all of PEAS and school districts’ Covid-19 protocol.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have own transportation
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Preferred qualifications:
Landscaping experience
Basic plant/weed identification knowledge
Ability to operate equipment such as a weed-eater or lawn mower
Pay rate: $12-$15/hour depending on experience.
Benefits: Temporary/part-time employment status does not qualify for PEAS benefits.
