Hi Folks,
Once again it is time to start the Christmas toy project we do in concert with Touchmark. We will be making cradles this year, and a new plane - WW II Corsair fighter.
I've attached two pictures of the Corsair. One is a 3D model and the other is from a drawing with three views. I need some opinions. I think the easiest way to make the fuselage is by turning it in three diameters, the last one being a taper, then bandsawing pieces off to get the taper you can see in the top view on the drawing.
I've made a pair of wings, but I think it will be easier to make the wings as a pair and connecting them with the fuselage with screws (into a notch to get their position correct). The propeller is either a four or five blade affair, depending on the model you look at. The rudder and stabilizers can be added as separate pieces.
I made a fuselage using top and side view templates, but that leaves a square section that needs a lot of sculpting, hence my opinion to turn.
So I need volunteers for both the cradle and plane, turners for the plane being critical unless you can think of an easier way to make the fuselage.
We could attach separate wings with dowels or metal pins but that will require some jigging to bore the holes.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. EVEN IF YOU DON'T VOLUNTEER TO MAKE PARTS, IF YOU HAVE A BETTER WAY TO MAKE THE WINGS OR FUSELAGE i WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.
