Hi Folks,
I can't remember if I sent an email to both the SAW and COW or just to my private Google group regarding my desire to make a chisel to level plane beds using my shoulder to drive the chisel.
Well, here it is. 19 inches long with a 6 inch blade, another 3 inches buried in the handle. The handle is hickory and started at 2 inches square, and is a touch over 13 inches long with a long taper down to 1 1/4" in diameter where I turned it from an octagon to a circle in section.
The metal part is O1 tool steel, 1 inch wide and 1/2 inch thick, with a 30 degree bevel, quenched and tempered to 60 HRc. The tang is about 9/16 inches in diameter, roughly octagonal. Just driven into the handle for a friction fit until I determine if this its final shape............................................now to make a plane to test it out.
