Hi Folks,
At yesterday's COW carving meeting Pat Welch gave me this plane from Scot Quartucy, who just moved to Idaho.
I don't need this plane (I got rid of a Stanley No. 6 not too long ago). In good conscience I can't sell this, so what I will do is to hold a free raffle at the next SAW meeting.
It is a Record (made in England) number 06 try plane. 18" long with a 2 3/8" wide iron. I've cleaned it up, flattened and sharpened the iron. Many years in our dry climate has shrunk the wood of the handles, so they are loose no matter how much I tighten them. I will grind the studs down until I can fully tighten the handles.
Check out the picture. Record made good planes. This one already takes shavings. I'll probably tune it some more before the meeting. You have to be present to win (raffle tickets given at the meeting). I just saw one on eBay for $150.
