Hi everyone, I need some new wood pieces made for the bows on my military trailer.
The old ones are oak so I’d like to stay with that if possible, but if there’s a cheaper and nearly as good alternative to oak I’d be willing to entertain it. I don’t need them finished, I plan on doing that myself. I'm in the middle of preparing for an interstate move and need a quick solution that doesn't cost a lot.
I need two more bows minimum, but if the cost is low enough I’ll rebuild all five of them. I would prefer to rebuild all five so they match.
The basics on the bow pieces, they are all 1-3/4 x 1-1/8 cross section dimensions, the long pieces are 57-1/4 inches long (either 2 or 5 each) and the short ones are 14-1/4 inches long (either 4 or 10 each). You can see there is a slight reduction in the 1-1/8 thickness down to 1 inch to accept the metal cap. I have a spare part I could provide as a model/gage.
Is this something you would be interested in doing? Rough cost? Timeline is about 30 days.Thank you,Todd Anderson
