to SAW, Central Oregon Woodworkers (COW)
Hey all you guys/gals,
My friend asked me to get this message out to any woodworkers who might be interested in doing the volunteer project outlined below. Even though it's for a group in Sisters, all but the installation could be done anywhere, which is why I'm including the COW members in this.

She's attached some photo examples of what they're looking for, but I'm sure there is plenty of room for someone to exercise their creativity.

Please respond directly to Jane if interested.

Hi Tom
Thank you for helping to find a volunteer woodworker who might be interested in building Circle of Friends a Free Little Library "cottage".  It would be great if one of your guys has some extra wood that they'd be willing to donate in order to build this. If you find someone, they can communicate with me directly at this email and phone number. I'd like to talk with them before they start building to make sure we're on the same page.

We're thinking of one that is simple:
  • clear door
  • weather appropriate and water proof
  • big enough for some rather large kids books, as we will supply it primarily with books for kids
  • space somewhere for a sign of some sort (we are asking one of our mentors who owns Birch 'n Home) . maybe above the door?.
  • maybe our logo painted on the side
  • we have NOT determined where on our property we would put it.
  • Ideally it would be somewhat moveable. Long term, 5 years or so we will be building a new building and moving. It would be great if somehow we could take it with us
  • We have some marine grade paint
  • I have some roofing paper and shingles at my house
  • I've included some pics as an example.

Thank you again for your help. Our administrative assistant Karen Isberg's husband is Greg Davidge experienced and well known woodworker in the area. Maybe he's in your group, although he doesn't go to many gatherings.
