The Central Ohio Reprap and MakerBot Operators User Group
is having its May meeting this Wednesday, from
19:00 to 22:00, at The Columbus Idea Foundry: 1160 Corrugated
Way, Columbus, OH 43201, near the 5th Avenue exit of I-71
(please note the change of address - it's easier to get to the
classroom through the glass-fronted door at 1160 than the metal
door that self-locks). This is the same building, but come to the
middle door.
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month. To
get announcements and to discuss MakerBot issues of local
importance, please join our local google group at:

Hopefully we'll see a third month in a row with a strong
MendelMax showing, but all printer types are welcome. If
you would like to show off your printer or if you need any
help or advice about repairs or printing problems, please
feel welcome to bring your printer and ask.
In an exciting turn of events, The Columbus Idea Foundry
has been loaned a 3D Systems ProJet 1500. It's a liquid-
resin film printer that exposes an entire layer to UV light at
once then moves up to make the next layer. Parts "grow"
upside-down in the tank at about 12mm/hour. We are still
getting it set up, but expect to have it ready to use later this
month. In the meantime, we can talk about the technology
and how we can make best use of it. The resolution is much
finer than an FDM printer, but the feed material is about
8X-10X the cost of ABS filament (and is only available in a
limited amount of colors). It still promises to be a great
opportunity to explore other 3D printing technologies.
The monthly meetings are free and open to all with an interest
in the technology regardless of prior experience. Bring your
enthusiasm down to the Columbus Idea Foundry, and if you
know someone who wants to learn more, bring them along, too.
