Greetings, Long-time Local Makers!

CORMUG started at the Columbus Idea Foundry at the beginning of
December, 2009, when we were at The Millworks on Leonard Ave (before
State St, before Corrugated Way). There have been a lot of changes to
the 3D Printing scene (and the Idea Foundry!) since then. At the
first meetup, we had one laser-cut Darwin (seen just the one time
before the owner moved) and three Makerbot CupCake CNCs.

Also over that time, 3D Printing has gone from being a curiosity to
being somewhat commonplace. The printers are much, much better, the
software is much, much better, and we have a universe of colors and
many different kinds of plastics to choose from. And that's just
considering FDM printing. Now, SLA/Resin printing is common, and
SLS/Powder printing is available on the high end.

I would have liked to have had another mini-maker-Faire type of event,
like we did for the 100th Meetup a few years ago, but Innovation
Franklinton, the new non-profit that's handling operational details at
the Idea Foundry, is declining all internal and external requests to
set up events at this time. So we'll just have a small celebration at
the meetup tomorrow.

So for those who make it down to FTON tomorrow, the front desk is
unstaffed by late afternoon, so look for a sign on the door with
instructions and a phone number to text to be let in (as we've been
doing since the Pandemic). Street Parking is metered until 10P, and
we no longer have a cooperative arrangement with the Gravity parking
garage.

Hope to see some folks come out tomorrow.

We will continue to use Google Meet for the online part of the meeting
for those that would like to attend virtually.

They are good for one hour so I'll start it pretty much right at 7P.

Cheers,

-ethan
