Hey all, this is Richard Blissett, back from the abyss! Sorry I missed
the last meeting...I somehow missed that the time had been changed
because of the weather. And I had packing tape! Darn...
(I've also just not been good with keeping up with the Google group,
sorry!)

Anyway, here at the high school, we've been offering the letter-
writing as a consistent service opportunity for students, so I'm
gathering those now. I'm using the list of five troops that we got at
the first meeting.

Dumb question that I'm sure was answered at the first meeting: How do
I get these letters sent to the soldiers? How does that all happen?

Thanks. Even if it means we go ahead and send them off ourselves,
that's fine. Just not quite sure how this works.

Hey Richard,

I'd like to set up another package party so we can also send some other things to the troops as well. If you can wait that long, then that would be the best option.  If the letters are time sensitive, you can get the mailing addresses of the soldiers from the soldier information post.

I think I'm going to go ahead and send off the ones I have just
because the kids are anxious about getting letters back...they're
super excited about the idea of a penpal. It's amazing how much more
motivated to write when there's something like this...

Thanks!

Also, a question for anyone reading this...I could use a little
feedback here:
So for the most part, all of the letters I've been reading from our
students are okay. One of them, however, is somewhat...depressing. He
talks in it about how his grandfather died, and about how he's worried
about losing his home, and how his mom just lost her job...

Is this something appropriate to send? What do you think?

I would go ahead and send it since your student did take the time to write it.  However, you may want to see if he can add some more positive content to the letter, so it's not so so depressing
