Hi all,

cifs mount on CentOS 6.3.   Windows drive mounted as either of the following, I am having privilege issues for anything beyond listing files.

//server.domain.org/folder /mnt/folder cifs credentials=/etc/credentials/windows

or

//server.domain.org/folder /mnt/folder cifs credentials=/etc/credentials/windows,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 0 0

"ls" will display all files as any user

"mv file.txt file2.txt" works as root/sudo but not as any other user.  I get a permission denied error

I verified that the AD account I'm using has full rights from other windows machine.

The owner of the mount is root (drwxr-xr-x).  I tried to chown the mnt/folder to  my non root user but getting permission denied.

Thanks for any help someone can provide.

are you tried using the -rw flag?

Thanks Z, that got me pointed in the right direction.  The final mount string is:

//server.domain.org/folder /mnt/folder cifs credentials=/etc/credentials/windows,rw,uid=the_user_needing_rw_access,gid=the_user_needing_rw_access,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777
