Foralmost three decades, Roger Pressman's Software Engineering: A Practitioner's Approach has been the world's leading textbook in software engineering. The new edition represents a major restructuring and update of previous editions, solidifying the book's position as the most comprehensive guide to this important subject. The chapter structure will return to a more linear presentation of software engineering topics with a direct emphasis on the major activities that are part of a generic software process. Content will focus on widely used software engineering methods and will de-emphasize or completely eliminate discussion of secondary methods, tools and techniques. The intent is to provide a more targeted, prescriptive, and focused approach, while attempting to maintain SEPA's reputation as a comprehensive guide to software engineering. The 39 chapters of this edition are organized into five parts - Process, Modeling, Quality Management, Managing Software Projects, and Advanced Topics. The book has been revised and restructured to improve pedagogical flow and emphasize new and important software engineering processes and practices.

McGraw-Hill's Connect, is also available as an optional, add on item. Connect is the only integrated learning system that empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely what they need, when they need it, how they need it, so that class time is more effective. Connect allows the professor to assign homework, quizzes, and tests easily and automatically grades and records the scores of the student's work. Problems are randomized to prevent sharing of answers an may also have a "multi-step solution" which helps move the students' learning along if they experience difficulty.

Roger S. Pressman is an internationally recognized authority on software process improvement and software engineering technologies. He was president of R. S. Pressman and Associates Inc., a consultancy specializing in software engineering and is also the founder and chief technology officer of EVANNEX, an automotive aftermarket company that specializes in the design and manufacture of accessories for the Tesla line of electric vehicles.

The 6th edition is considerably more than a simple update. The book has been revised to accommodate the dramatic growth in the field and to emphasize new and important software engineering methods. The format and style of the 6th edition have undergone significant change, making the presentation more reader-friendly and the content more easily accessible. Key additions and ehnancements include:

A comprehensive Web site has been developed to complement the content of the SEPA, 6/e. The Web site, called SepaWeb, provides a broad array of software engineering resources that will benefit instructors, students, and industry professionals.

Like all Web sites, SepaWeb will evolve over time, but the following major content areas will always be present:

In the 25 years since the first edition of this book was written, software engineering has evolved from an obscure idea practiced by a relatively small number of zealots to a legitimate engineering discipline. Today, it is recognized as a subject worthy of serious research, conscientious study, and tumultuous debate. Throughout the industry, software engineer has replaced programmer as the job title of preference. Software process models, software engineering methods, and software tools have been adopted successfully across a broad spectrum of industry applications.

Although managers and practitioners alike recognize the need for a more disciplined approach to software, they continue to debate the manner in which discipline is to be applied. Many individuals and companies still develop software haphazardly, even as they build systems to service today’s most advanced technologies. Many professionals and students are unaware of modern methods. And as a result, the quality of the software that we produce suffers, and bad things happen. In addition, debate and controversy about the true nature of the software engineering approach continue. The status of software engineering is a study in contrasts. Attitudes have changed, progress has been made, but much remains to be done before the discipline reaches full maturity.

The sixth edition of Software Engineering: A Practitioner's Approach is intended to serve as a guide to a maturing engineering discipline. The sixth edition, like the five editions that preceded it, is intended for both students and practitioners, retaining its appeal as a guide to the industry professional and a comprehensive introduction to the student at the upper level undergraduate or first year graduate level.

Our specialization is a blend of basic and emerging technology in the power distribution sector through two unique courses. First course is Electrical Power Distribution wherein we deal from concept to commissioning level, give exposure to the learners statutory regulations, the different distribution equipment like distribution transformers, pole mounted substation, auto reclosure, sectionlizers, Compact Substation, Ring Main unit. Today we are moving more of digitalization and our specialization covers the automation in distribution sector which is being implemented by different electricity boards in Indian and across the globe.

The Second course is on Medium Voltage (MV) Substation (up to 33kV). This course is an integral part of power distribution having a unique blend of fundamental concepts and engineering methodology for voltage levels of up to 33kV. The course is structured pragmatically to help the learner understand the industry practices in conducting the engineering for substations and selection of various substation equipment in accordance with Indian & International Standards. It starts with bus bar schemes, layout aspects, selection of land, electrical equipment selection, interface requirement with civil and mechanical, cable routing, earthing and lightening protection and illumination engineering. In addition, it covers electrical safety rules, safe operating procedures and an overview of maintenance practices to give a holistic understanding of the subject.

Concepts are explained through videos shot at actual construction site whever possible. All the Courses under the Specialization has any photographs (taken from actual site) and animation vidoes to help learners visualize whats being explained.

This is an application-oriented course explaining the various aspects of power distribution, indoor and outdoor equipment up to 33kV. The course adopts a cross-disciplinary approach to ensure that the learners understand site execution, testing and commissioning. Throughout the course, safety aspects have been emphasized in every area of work. This course blends with conceptual knowledge covering the latest technological trends like SCADA & automation.

This tailor-made certificate course on MV Substation Engineering is curated by the Subject Matter Experts and practitioners of L&T, and is structured pragmatically to help the learner understand the industry practices in carrying out the engineering for substations and selection of various substation equipment in accordance with Indian & International Standards. In addition, it covers the electrical safety rules, safe operating procedures and an overview of maintenance practices to give a holistic understanding of the subject.

When you enroll in the course, you get access to all of the courses in the Specialization, and you earn a certificate when you complete the work. If you only want to read and view the course content, you can audit the course for free. If you cannot afford the fee, you can apply for financial aidOpens in a new tab.
