Colonel Aureliano Buendia had eighteen children. However, seventeen
were mothered by all different woman that he happened to come in
contact with during the chaos of the war. He had one child through
another lady, Pilar Ternera, before the seventeen other children were
born. This sons name was Aureliano Jose. Aureliano Jose wanted to
fight like his dad, but in my opinion he did not have enough motive to
do so. Therefore, Aureliano is under the care of Amaranta. He becomes
infatuated with his aunt which proves people back then in Macondo did
not have good morals if they wanted to seduce their aunt.

Jose Arcadio also had one son by Pilar Ternera. It seems completely
disgusting that one lady had the children of two cousins. This childs
name was Arcadio. Arcadio appears to be the most dangerous and violent
of all the Buendias. Arcadio gains control of Macondo because his
uncle gave it to him. Through all the power he gains he comes like a
tyrant. I don't think he could handle the power well at all because he
used it in the wrong way. Instead of using his power and control to
better Macondo, he uses it negatively which actually harms Macondo.
Macondo then turns out to be an unorganized, violent place.
