The second generation involves Jose Arcadio Buendia and Ursulas
children. They had three children. Their three children are Colonel
Aureliano Buendia, Jose Arcadio, and Amaranta. Colonel Aureliano
Buendia is perceived as a focused person. Jose Arcadio seems to be
known for his impetuousness. Amaranta is a young girl who doesn't
fully involve herself in her surroundings and his very obeying.

The once peaceful Macondo soon becomes an unpeaceful place when
violence breaks out due to Civil Wars. Colonel Aureliano Buendia
becomes the leader of the Liberal rebels. Through this Macondo becomes
less of an alienated place. I think that the fighting in this was
unnecessary, but the outcome almost seems beneficial. Macondo seems to
be more associated with the outside world, which is good for them.

Jose Arcadio goes away from the Buendia family and in my opinion comes
back not a good person at all. As a result of him coming back without
anything to speak highly of, he seems to lead a lonely life. Just as
Jose Arcadio leads a lonely life, so does Amaranta. She is never
without her mother and so she lacked learning independence. It seems
as if she can't think for herself because she would rather follow
orders.
