Hello, I am really hoping someone may be able to help me, I recently only encountered this error after changing some settings in my BIOS, I wanted to change my CPU fan Curve which I did, I also enable XMP and turned AMD raid mode on, which I later turned of as I don't think compatibility allowed.
After doing this I now get this error, and the info section says Windows cant located a file that is part of the operating system, something ladled EFI.
If I hit enter on this screen, then select windows 10, it will take me back to the error, however If I then press Enter again, and instead of selecting Windows 10 or Windows memory troubleshooting (which also doesn't work) If I press ESC it will post and take into my windows desktop, however even though this is the case the OS is unstable, for example when I go to play a video game, they system will then either blue screen or completely fail and take me back to the error.
bootrec /rebuildbcd (originally asks if I want to add installation to boot list, I type A for all and it is successful, however after upgrading windows again with the media creation tool it will say the path cannot be found)
There was a gaud i red to do with selecting a disc and then a volume but I had trouble understanding that. There is a CBS log here also, I tried running SFC /scannow however it came back with Windows resource protection could not start the repair service, also tried DISM which did not do anything.
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:1.insert windos cd and run a repair your computer option.File: /boot/bcdStatus: 0xc000000fInfo: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data"
I can boot into ubuntu fine albeit wireless doesn't work. I enabled legacy support before install so I could boot from USB. I've tried booting from the usb I used to initially install ubuntu thinking maybe I could reinstall or repair, but it seems to ignore it. Is there some advanced startup options somewhere in ubuntu like there is in windows 10? Otherwise how will I run the Boot-Repair-Disk?
You can shutdown your machine. Then power it on while repeatedly pressing the function key appropriate for your machine to bring the bios screen. For Lenovo it is F2, for HP it is F12. Go to boot option. Move to windows using arrow keys. Use F6 to bring it to top. Use F10 to save and exit. Now the machine should boot fine.
If it doesn't then you can enter your windows CD, go to BIOS, then boot option. Here you will see an entry for Windows CD. Move it to top, save and exit. You can now repair your windows without any problem. Hope it helps.
More information would help, how do you know it failed to install? Have you clicked on the Start icon and looked there. See image below. Click on, tap or activate image to enlarge it and see complete image.
I have found a solution. I downloaded a fresh copy of the installer package from the link in the manual as I was installing it a message came up and said there was a newer version so I updated to version 2.1.332 It has installed and opened up all the right click menus and found the cloud device with no additional issues so far.
Hi , I was not able to install WD discovery on a new laptop, though its been running without problems on 4 other machines on my network. I tried the link that dazdar submitted above and it worked. Immediately after it informed me that the software was out of date so I updated it, which installed exactly the same installer I had been struggling with and it failed just as it had before. Then I got that strange conspiracy theory feeling and decided to accept to share my personal data with WD, and it installed like a charm!. I think that WD is making more money on data mining than on selling drives.
It says now iCloud Photos "initializing" when I right click the iCloud icon in the system tray. iCloud drive "updated 2 minutes ago" (I have just few MB in drive so this synced faster, Photos has 250GB and will take longer)
Click on 'Reset' to delete the app's data, then try opening iCloud again. It should ask you to sign back in with your AppleID, and once logged in it should open normally. The only drawback is that you might need to set 'Always keep on this device' on your files again if you'd set that previously, then give it time to pull it all back down again.
After reading about the missing C++, I went to -US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 and downloaded the version I needed for my computer. Deleting and reinstalling didn't work. Turning off my security didn't work. But after the download, I am able to now sign into iCloud for windows.
Well, I have a couple TBs of data on my computer, so I'd rather not reinstall. I just downloaded the latest C++ runtime and updated Visual Studio, then reset iCloud. Upon iCloud's first boot, everything seemed to be working fine except for the iCloud password manager extension for Chrome. I then tried closing and reopening iCloud, but it threw me the same error once again.
I then tried to down load and install iCloud from the Microsoft store. This failed complaining there was a missing C++ dll, which one I did not take note of. I assumed other products were downloading it thats whay some installs worked.
I found two issues. Pwsh did not exist in the target directory but did exist earlier in the path. I copied the pwsh.exe to the target directory and the installation proceeded further before reaching the could not copy issue. On investigation the relevant directory already contained the file that the .tmp file was trying to be renames to. It seems I have an earlier installtion of ocaml but have no recollection of trying to do so. I deleted the relevant ocaml directories and .\setup-diskuv-ocaml-windows_x86_64-1.2.0.exe ran to completion without errors.
MiniTool OEM program enable partners like hardware / software vendors and relative technical service providers to embed MiniTool software with their own products to add value to their products or services and expand their market.
Now, your computer can boot up without error. To avoid having trouble in starting the computer once more, it is essential to create a backup of your system. When your computer crashes, you can use this backup image to restore your system to an earlier state.
Step 2. In this page, you can choose the backup source and destination. As you can see in SOURCE, this program is set to back up your operating system by default, so you just need to choose a destination path for the backup image in DESTINATION (an external drive or USB flash disk is preferred).
When your system encounters issues like Windows failed to start Windows 10, you can use the inbuilt Automatic Repair feature. This feature will scan system files, registry settings, & configuration settings and fix the problem on its own.
Step 1. Press the Power button to power off your computer and reboot it several times when you see the Windows logo. Then, you will see the Automatic/Startup Repair screen.
BCD (also known as Boot Configuration Data) contains the files that the bootloader can find to boot Windows. Sometimes, BCD might be corrupted due to some reason, leading to Windows failed to start Windows 10/11. In this is the case, rebuilding BCD might do the trick.
There is a known issue caused by an OpenSSL bug on 64-bit zoom client 5.16.x on some Windows systems. We've opened a ticket to OpenSSL and the fix is on the way. So if 32-bit zoom client 5.16.10 can solve your issue, please use it as a workaround and wait for our official fix.
I have been struggling with this same problem since the beginning of October. I have tried all solutions that are posted without success. Why can't ANY of them suggest loading an OLDER version of Zoom with instructions on how to do it? Also, what is this "Zoom Cloud Meetings" crap? Turns out it appears to be doublespeak for regular Zoom. So here is a novel idea:
My goodness, thank you so much. I had the exact same problem as OP which started the day I installed the 2023-10 Windows 10 update. I fixed it by uninstalling the latest version of Zoom, then installing Zoom 5.16.1 via -us-zoom.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions. I spent a few hours trying to figure this out! I don't know why I waited so long to visit this forum.
Thank you so much Bruce! I have not used zoom on my desktop for a couple of months. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't start my meeting this morning or even join as a participant. It has been a frustrating morning. I have spent the last 5 hours trying to fix this problem for another meeting tomorrow morning. After trying many failed fix attempts I came across this form with your suggestion and guess what? IT WORKED! I agree with your comments and again thank you!
I also have been trying to get Zoom working on my laptop. I had been having inperson meetings, so I hadn't used Zoom on it for awhile. I've uninstalled, installed, cleaned, and restarted my laptop I don't know how many times. So glad I found this forum! Thank you BruceP (and others) for taking away my frustration! I greatly appreciate it!
Now that I know how to fix the problem, it is easier to find out more about the problem. It appears Zoom version 5.16.X, 64-bit version is broken, at least for some computers. The 32 bit version reportedly works. Otherwise uninstall the latest version and download version 5.15.11.
When trying to install Splunk 4.3 on Windows 2003 I encountered the error;
"Splunk Installer was unable to create Splunk services. Please make sure the user running the installer has the correct privileges, including being able to create Windows Services. Exitcode='1'"
The next option is that you may have a similar error to above but with exit code 4 and the service cannot start instead of failing to install, this is because you chose to run the Splunk services as something other than the local system account. If you enter the details for another account it is possible you have entered them in incorrectly or they do not have permissions set to run as a service.
